Cangene is a profitable and fully integrated developer and manufacturer of immune therapeutics, primarily targeting exigent infectious disease and biodefense applications. We have five products that have been approved in the United States and/or Canada and three products included in the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile.
With the commercial introduction of our first drug, WinRho® SDF, in 1980, manufacturing capability has become one of Cangene's key strengths. Along with producing our own drugs, we operate a successful contract R&D and manufacturing business using our Health Canada and FDA-inspected facilities.
Most of Cangene's products are hyperimmunes—purified antibody products that are specific for targets such as hepatitis B, botulism and anthrax. In addition, we are developing monoclonal antibody technology and an innovative peptide therapeutic that may be effective in combating certain antibiotic-resistant infections.
Cangene has been listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange since 1991 under the symbol CNJ. We have operations in Manitoba and Ontario in Canada, and in California, Maryland and Florida in the United States.
