Cangene Corporation is one of the most consistent performers in the Canadian biopharmaceutical universe. Delivering profitable results, a growing list of approved biopharmaceuticals and a solid contract-services business with nearly a billion dollars in U.S. government contracts signed over the last five years, the Company has established its reputation as reliable and capable.
In recent years, Cangene has focused on developing therapeutics aimed at infectious disease and biodefence targets. It has a deep pipeline with four approved drugs, two more that have been submitted for regulatory review and several others in earlier stages of development. The U.S. government has chosen Cangene as its supplier of three products for the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile.
The majority of products in Cangene's pipeline are hyperimmunes-antibody
products that may aid in the fight against complex medical
challenges such as hepatitis B, smallpox, botulism, anthrax
and Ebola. Cangene is also developing recombinant
protein biopharmaceutical products for a variety of indications.
With more than 25 years of experience garnered from manufacturing
its life-saving drug WinRho® SDF, Cangene specializes
in producing injectable products for its own pipeline and
also offers contract R&D and manufacturing services
to other biopharmaceutical companies as well as government
organizations.
Cangene has been listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange since
1991 under the symbol CNJ. The Company has operations
in Manitoba and Ontario in Canada, and California, Maryland
and Florida in the United States. The majority of
its 650 employees work in Winnipeg or at Chesapeake Biological
Laboratories, Inc., Cangene's subsidiary in Baltimore.
