Leucotropin™ (GM-CSF)
Cangene’s Leucotropin™
is a recombinant human Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating
Factor (GM-CSF) obtained from the bacterial fermentation
of Streptomyces lividans transformed with a genetically
engineered plasmid containing the rhGM-CSF gene. The amino
acid sequence of Leucotropin™ is identical to the
natural molecule but it is non-glycosylated.
Leucotropin™ is a highly
purified preparation of a monomeric, biologically active
molecule with a theoretical molecular weight of 14,478 Daltons
based on the amino acid sequence of the natural molecule.
The preparation is sterile and water soluble.
The biological activity of the product
has been demonstrated in cell proliferation assays (AML-193
and TF-1 cell lines) and also with a colony stimulating
assay employing human bone marrow cells.
